KuKu Verification & Authentication Policy

At KuKu, trust is what makes fashion sharing exciting.

Whether you're shopping from a Creator Closet or discovering pieces from our community sellers, we are committed to creating a safe, transparent, and reliable fashion marketplace.

This policy explains how KuKu verifies users, reviews listings, and handles authenticity concerns.

1. User Verification

To maintain a trusted KuKu community, users may be required to complete verification before accessing certain platform features.

Verification may include:

  • Mobile number verification through OTP.
  • Email address confirmation.
  • Additional identity or account verification where required.

Creator Closet access may require additional verification to confirm creator identity and authorised use of the account.

KuKu reserves the right to restrict, suspend, or deactivate accounts that provide false, incomplete, or misleading information.

2. Listing Review & Quality Check

KuKu aims to maintain high-quality listings and a premium shopping experience.

All listings may be reviewed before becoming available on the platform.

Buyers may also choose KuKu Quality Check as an optional add-on during checkout.

When selected, Quality Check may include:

  • Reviewing item condition.
  • Checking that the item reasonably matches listing photos and descriptions.
  • Reviewing visible brand details and disclosed information.
  • Identifying major discrepancies or undisclosed issues.

Quality Check is a visual and physical inspection only.

It does not guarantee:

  • Professional authentication.
  • Perfect fit.
  • Personal preference or satisfaction.
  • Detection of all possible defects or counterfeit items.

Items that significantly differ from their listing may be handled according to KuKu's Return & Refund Policy.

Repeated misleading listings may result in account restrictions or suspension.

3. Creator Closet Verification

Creator Closets are an important part of the KuKu experience.

Creators may be required to verify:

  • Their identity.
  • Their ownership or permission to sell listed items.
  • Their association with the Creator Closet being represented.

KuKu reserves the right to review, approve, or remove Creator Closet access where necessary.

4. Luxury & Branded Item Authentication

KuKu does not provide in-house professional authentication services for luxury or designer items.

Sellers listing luxury items must:

  • Provide accurate brand information.
  • Clearly disclose item condition.
  • Avoid listing replicas, counterfeits, or unauthorized products.
  • Provide supporting documents where requested.

Supporting documents may include:

  • Purchase receipts.
  • Invoices.
  • Authenticity cards.
  • Original packaging.
  • Serial numbers or product identifiers.

KuKu's Quality Check, when selected, only reviews visible details and does not represent expert authentication or certification.

Responsibility for authenticity remains with the seller unless a separate third-party authentication service is specifically provided.

5. Prohibited Items

The following items are strictly prohibited on KuKu:

  • Counterfeit or replica products.
  • “Inspired by” items presented as authentic branded products.
  • Stolen or unlawfully obtained items.
  • Products violating intellectual property or trademark rights.
  • Illegal, unsafe, or restricted items under UAE law.

Listings violating these rules may be removed immediately.

6. Authenticity Concerns & Disputes

If a buyer raises an authenticity concern:

KuKu may:

  • Request supporting information from both buyer and seller.
  • Review listing details and available inspection records.
  • Request proof of purchase or authenticity documents.
  • Investigate potential policy violations.

If an item is found to be counterfeit or unlawfully listed:

  • The buyer may receive a refund according to KuKu's Refund Policy.
  • Seller payouts may be withheld where applicable.
  • The seller's account may be restricted or permanently removed.
  • Serious violations may be reported to relevant authorities.

7. Seller Responsibilities

Sellers are responsible for:

  • Listing only genuine items they are authorized to sell.
  • Providing accurate descriptions and images.
  • Disclosing defects, wear, alterations, or missing components.
  • Providing authenticity information when requested.

Violations may result in:

  • Listing removal.
  • Delayed or withheld payouts.
  • Account restrictions.
  • Permanent suspension.

8. Buyer Responsibilities

Buyers should:

  • Review listing details carefully before purchasing.
  • Understand that Quality Check is not professional authentication.
  • Ask questions before purchasing if additional information is required.
  • Consider third-party authentication services for high-value luxury purchases.

9. Policy Updates

  • KuKu may update this policy as our services evolve or as legal and regulatory requirements change.
  • Continued use of KuKu after updates means you accept the revised policy.
