KuKu Verification & Authentication Policy

At KuKu, trust, transparency, and user safety are at the core of our marketplace.

This policy explains how KuKu verifies users and handles item quality checks and authentication, in compliance with UAE regulations and app store requirements.

1. User Verification

To maintain a secure and reliable platform, all KuKu users — including buyers, sellers, renters, and donors — must complete basic verification before using platform features.

Basic Verification (Mandatory for All Users):

  • Valid mobile number verification (OTP)
  • Valid email address confirmation

KuKu reserves the right to suspend, restrict, or deactivate accounts that provide false, incomplete, or misleading information.

2. Item Quality Check (QC)

KuKu operates a managed marketplace where item quality and accuracy are reviewed before delivery.

Quality Check (QC):

  • Quality Check (QC) is an optional add-on service unless otherwise stated for specific categories.
  • When selected, items are inspected before being shipped to the buyer.
  • QC verifies that the item reasonably matches the listing photos, description, brand, and declared condition.
  • Items that fail QC are not shipped to the buyer and may be returned to the seller.
  • Repeated QC failures may result in warnings, listing restrictions, or account suspension.
  • Important: QC is limited to visual and physical inspection only and does not guarantee authenticity.

3. Luxury & Branded Item Authentication

  • KuKu does not provide in-house professional authentication for luxury or designer items.
  • Sellers listing luxury or branded items must accurately disclose brand details and item condition.
  • Sellers are encouraged to upload proof of authenticity such as receipts, certificates, or original packaging.
  • KuKu's internal QC (if selected) checks for obvious inconsistencies (e.g., branding placement, serial numbers, materials) but is not a certification or expert authentication.

Disclaimer:

KuKu is not liable for counterfeit or misrepresented items listed by sellers. Responsibility for authenticity remains solely with the seller, unless a third-party authentication service has been explicitly purchased.

4. Prohibited Items

The following items are strictly prohibited on KuKu:

  • Counterfeit, replica, or “inspired” branded goods
  • Stolen or unlawfully obtained items
  • Items infringing intellectual property or trademark rights
  • Illegal, restricted, or unsafe products under UAE law

Listings found to violate these rules will be removed immediately.

5. Dispute Handling & Authenticity Claims

If a buyer raises an authenticity concern after delivery:

  • KuKu may request supporting evidence from the buyer and seller
  • Sellers may be asked to provide proof of authenticity
  • KuKu will review available QC records and documentation

If an item is determined to be counterfeit or unlawfully listed:

  • The buyer may receive a refund in accordance with KuKu's Refund Policy
  • The seller's account may be suspended or permanently terminated
  • KuKu reserves the right to report serious violations to relevant authorities

6. Seller Responsibilities

Sellers are responsible for:

  • Listing only genuine, lawful, and accurately described items
  • Disclosing defects, wear, or missing components
  • Providing authenticity proof when requested

Violations may result in:

  • Listing removal
  • Withheld payouts or penalties
  • Temporary or permanent account suspension

7. Buyer Responsibilities

Buyers are encouraged to:

  • Review listings carefully before purchase
  • Understand that QC is not professional authentication
  • Opt for third-party authentication for high-value luxury items when available

8. Policy Updates

KuKu may update this policy as authentication services evolve or regulatory requirements change. Continued use of the platform constitutes acceptance of the latest version of this policy.
