KuKu Quality Check (QC) Policy

1. Purpose & Scope

KuKu offers an optional Quality Check (QC) service to enhance transparency and buyer confidence on the platform.

QC is not mandatory and is available as a paid add-on service at AED 20 per item, selected by the buyer at checkout.

When QC is selected, the item is physically inspected after purchase and before delivery to assess whether it matches the seller's listing details.

QC is a verification of accuracy and condition only, not a guarantee of performance, fit, or authenticity.

2. When Quality Check Applies

Quality Check is conducted only if the buyer opts in at the time of purchase.

The process is as follows:

  1. Buyer places an order and selects the QC add-on
  2. Item is picked up from the seller
  3. Item is transported to KuKu's QC Centre
  4. QC inspection is performed
  5. Outcome is determined:

QC Passed → Item is packed and delivered to the buyer

QC Failed → Item is returned to the seller and the buyer is refunded for the item price

(QC service fees and logistics fees may be non-refundable, as disclosed at checkout)

If pickup fails due to seller unavailability or repeated unsuccessful attempts, the order may be cancelled in accordance with KuKu policies.

3. Quality Check Inspection Standards

When QC is selected, KuKu inspects the item strictly against the seller's listing description and images, including the following criteria:

a. Condition Accuracy

  • Item condition must match the stated condition (e.g., New, Like New, Gently Used)
  • No undisclosed defects, stains, damage, odors, or alterations
  • Any mismatch between listed and actual condition may result in QC failure

b. Listing Accuracy

  • Correct brand, size, color, model, and category
  • All accessories, components, or parts included if stated in the listing

c. Cleanliness & Usability

  • Item must be reasonably clean and usable
  • No mold, infestations, excessive pet hair, or strong/unpleasant odors

4. Luxury Items & Authentication Disclaimer

For luxury or designer items, KuKu's QC includes a basic visual inspection only, which may consider:

  • Materials, stitching, logos, tags, and serial markings
  • Seller-provided documentation (if available)

Buyers are encouraged to:

  • Review seller history and ratings
  • Request proof of purchase or authenticity documentation

If authenticity concerns arise during QC:

  • The item may be returned to the seller
  • The listing may be flagged or removed
  • Seller penalties may apply under KuKu policies

5. QC Failure & Seller Consequences

If an item fails QC:

  • The item is returned to the seller
  • The buyer receives a refund for the item price
  • The seller is notified of the failure reason

Common QC failure reasons include:

  • Misrepresentation of condition or brand
  • Missing parts or accessories
  • Hygiene or damage issues
  • Suspected counterfeit or prohibited items

Repeated QC failures may result in:

  • Listing restrictions
  • Temporary account suspension
  • Permanent account termination

Actions are taken in accordance with KuKu's Account Suspension & Enforcement Policies.

6. Buyer Responsibilities & Limitations

Quality Check does not cover:

  • Fit, sizing comfort, or styling expectations
  • Subjective preferences
  • Manufacturer sizing variations

Buyers remain responsible for reviewing listings carefully before purchase, even when QC is selected.

7. Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability

While KuKu aims to maintain reasonable inspection standards, Quality Check:

  • Is not a guarantee of satisfaction
  • Does not replace buyer due diligence
  • Does not constitute certification or expert verification

KuKu is not liable for:

  • Subjective dissatisfaction
  • Brand or sizing inconsistencies
  • Buyer preference-related issues

All QC services are governed by KuKu's Terms & Conditions and applicable UAE laws.
